RV sleeps four. Tow vehicle gets 20 miles per gallon

How about this -- a fifth wheel travel trailer that can be pulled by a VW bug that can cruise down the highway at about 20 miles per gallon of gas! And get this: It can turn 360 degrees! Ever seen one of these recreational vehicles on the road? We wonder why this never caught on. Maybe now's the time!

  1. I have covered a lot of miles in my M/Home in the last 20 years and
I have never seen the combo of a V.W. and 5th. wheel on the road. are there any out there? If so, let me know by posting here.I would like to try one out. I love to save on gas.

  2. Would the modern day equivalant be something like the Casita or Scamp? Those may not be towable by a Bug. I thought the best part was the 360 turning radius. Looks as cozy as two bugs in a rug.

I agree that this is something that's time has come again. I don't see why one of the smaller imports (Honda Fit for example) couldn't be outfitted to work the same way.
I'm sure that there would be a market for them.

  4. They quit making the fifth wheels that attached to the roofs of cars, because it weakened the car's roof. I have seen a couple, one in WA, and one in TX. But they were not on VWs!.
