Groovy Winnebago 1973 TV commercial

Now this is one groovy TV commercial -- for Winnebago's new lineup for 1973. Learn about the company's newest products including the brand new Minnie-Winnie ("the first mini-motorhome good enough to wear the Flying W") and the Indian, the best selling motorhome in America. The music is totally '70s and if you look closely you can see the shag carpet in the motorhomes. Wow! You'll love this 30 second video.

  1. Enjoyed the commercial. I own a 1997 Winnebago Minnie Winnie and absolutely love it. What I don't understand is why Winnebago Industries discontinued the Minnie Winnie from its motorhome line in 2007. The late model Minnie Winnies had all the conveniences, storage capacity, and luxury of a Class A motorhome in a less expensive, easier to drive package.
I hope they bring it back again.

  2. As the supremely proud owner of a 1972 Winnebago Brave I can truly speak to how wonderful it is to own a piece of history. I have driven it for thousands of miles, and everywhere it goes, people come up to it and comment. They either had one, their parents had one, their friends neighbors or somebody they knew had one. It is the true definition of the Motorhome for the masses. My unit fits in a regular parking space and hangs out just a bit, it is only 20' long so it is only about 4 ft longer than some SUV's out there.

This Winne is very well preserved, and people always feel like they are back in the 70's when they step into it, and that is the way I like to keep it. It honors the past, a history of a motorhome line that truly brought RV'ing home to the masses.

Mine has a non stock Kohler 4.5KW Generator, so it has enough power to run my rig, and another RV with power to spare. I have tried to keep everything origonal including chasing down new speakers for the stereo that fit the old Chrome Grills. The interior is in great shape, I only make departures from the 70's in areas like Smoke and CO2 detectors, and I did have to break down and install a CD player since my 8track player has issues.

I am hoping I get to use it for many more years.

  3. I'm looking to buy a 72 or 73 Brave. I think they are just the coolest looking beasts around. Any comments about what I need to watch out for would be appreciated. Thanks. Sandy

  5. We couldn't afford a Winnebago in 1973, but we purchased a brand new Chevy pick-up and El Dorado camper. I'm sure the video I just watched in b/w had similar orange striped upholstery as we had. I immediately identified with the hair and clothing styles!! Perhaps the RV manufacturers should take a cue from that rally photo showing just FIVE models....perhaps many manufacturers have run into problems by trying to be everything to everybody. We purchased a new Winnebago Brave in 2004 and still love it. Winnebago is the best!!

  6. Bought "Ol Gal" new and still have her...74 Winnie Brave. Runs and looks good inside and out.People always wave. Slightly under 20 feet so can go places the bigger ones can't. Might not have all the trimmings of a new one but I'm camping! If I want trimmings I can stay home! "Ol Gal" is a classic and I love her!

  8. I'm working on a series for the Versus Network (formally The Outdoor Channel) and I'm trying to find out where I can get a copy of the commercial and others of that era for use in the program. We are in communication with the Winnebago legal department, they are willing to grant permission.

Can anyone help me out, digital files would be ok.

    Thanks in advance!

  11. Just bought a 1973 Minnie with 17000 original miles on it. A few minor repairs needed for functions, some reupholstery (already done) and has some minor water damage from a year of poor storage. Cost $3700, plus about $2000 to get it up and running. Invoice new in '73 was $12700 (originally bought in Sudbury Canada). Not bad for a first RV!
